Accepted job offer

I'm currently at a very large company, one of the best places to work in my town (and a member of many, many top 100 places to work lists), but I'm about to give it up and go to a startup.  I recently finished my MBA, and I want nothing more than to help grow a small business into a large one, but it's still risky and scary, along with being VERY exciting.  The founders are marquee, highly A-list, players, with solid backers, and just in general they are people I can't wait to work with so I gave my notice and I'm away as of tomorrow.  I am one of the first employees, flattered to be asked to come along for the ride and eager to do whatever it takes to make our baby a success.

The office space, which is in a loft area in town, was largely unfinished.  The last tenant's name was still on the door, the place needed to be painted, have cables strung, no furniture, you get the idea.  An empty palette for us to put our mark on.  We met as a mini team (the four of us who will be in Atlanta, we also have two people in NYC) last week for the first time for the purpose of viewing the space and talking to a contractor.  We finished that by getting some food at a nearby restaurant, and then making a whirlwind trip through Ikea, during which we bought our conference room table, eight conference room chairs, five desks, and five rolling cabinets.  I had to run to another meeting, but the guys finished off the purchase process and arranged for the delivery to occur the next morning (a Saturday).

I agreed to be at the space for the delivery, so the next morning I made a super-fast trip to the office to meet the delivery guys.  Upon arrival I discovered that the toilet didn't have any hardware in it (made this discovery before actually trying to use it, thankfully), tried out the local coffee shop, met the painters and our next door neighbors (how strange is that??) who are very nice, and signed off on the delivery.  All in all it was a good trip, something I'm sure I'll never forget.

This week the painting is finished, the furniture has been assembled, and the space is starting to be usable, if we could just get Internet access (Comcast is making us crazy), a phone system, and an email system...  The team is already getting started and I'm anxious for next week so I can join them.  It's going to be crazy, but it's also going to be fun!
